Students usually range in age from 9 to 21 years of age and have joined following preliminary study on the recorder. All students take part in the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (LONDON) exams with an external examiner, which we host each year in late March/early April.

Many students perform at competitions including the Feis Ceoil, the New Park Feis and other local events. Our students have been selected to play at the Associated Board's annual High Scorers Concert in the National Concert Hall.

Students also attend a theory of music class from Grade 1 to Grade 5 level and take exams with the Associated Board as part of their participation in the Instrument Programme.

Instrument Lessons last 30 minutes and take place on either Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday evenings from 5.30 to 9.30 in St. Colmcille's Community School on the Scholarstown Road.

As part of the Adult Education Programme run in conjunction with St. Colmcille's Community School we offer most of the above to 'mature' students on request.

Over 1200 exams have now been passed by members of the Knocklyon Concert Band Society!
